LENA SKJERDAL TRIOLena Skjerdal is a freelance musician and a college lecturer. She is a vocalist, composer and lyricist, and earned a degree in ethnomusicology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in 2002. She has been a member of a number of bands, and among the musicians she has worked with are drummers Håkon Mjåset Johanssen and Thomas Strønen. Lena Skjerdal also has long experience as a big band vocalist, has studied with Elin Rosseland and Sidsel Endresen, and has studied khyal singing in Mumbai with Guru Dhanashree Pandit-Rai at the Jazz-India Vocal Institute. After spending a year in the USA with the band “Blåmann” in 2001, she returned to Sogn og Fjordane in Norway. |
